Since 2010, Quarrybrook has been collaborating with Children in the Wilderness, a non-profit organization supported by ecotourism company Wilderness Safaris, to facilitate sustainable conservation through leadership development and education of rural children in Africa.

Each summer, Quarrybrook educators design and facilitate multi-day adult workshops for rural school communities. Often these workshops have been for the after school eco-club mentors bringing hands on, experiential lessons and project ideas. In 2017, the workshops aimed to support the women’s creative groups. The focus was two fold, teaching a practical skill of sewing with project ideas, as well as learning the basics of monthly budgeting and small business planning. Moving forward, the focus will be on the completion of a long tern goal, a three year progression based curriculum which can be used by CITW’s Eco Clubs and hopefully many others in the future.
